DavidsTea Matcha Smoothie Recipes

I love matcha on its own or as a simple matcha latte, but I also have so much fun trying different matcha recipes. Smoothies are some of the best recipes to use matcha for—especially for those new to drinking or cooking with matcha. You can definitely add pretty much anything to your matcha smoothie, but I tried three recipes from DavidsTea using their Matcha Matsu. Read on for my thoughts!

Banana + Dates + Matcha Matsu Smoothie

This matcha smoothie is incredibly simple to make: just matcha, a banana, a date, and oat milk (I used almond milk), plus a sprinkle of cinnamon. It also tastes incredibly simple, and not very sweet. My only complaint is that there were bits of the date at the bottom of my smoothie that I would have preferred had been more blended. But honestly, this was more disappointing because I used a Ninja blender that should have been able to handle that than it was because of the smoothie itself.

Mango Matcha Smoothie

This mango matcha smoothie has a few more ingredients than the last and there is the additional step of soaking the chia seeds in mango juice, but it is still easy to make. This is a slightly sweeter smoothie, and the chia seeds add a nice texture. I have a sweet tooth and I am a big fan of chia seeds, so this way my favorite smoothie recipe of the three. I think you will still like this smoothie if you don’t like super sweet things, but it may not be for you if you don’t like the texture of chia seeds.

Matcha Smoothie Bowl Recipe

This matcha smoothie recipe is a little different just because it’s meant to be eaten out of a bowl. It’s also easy to make (I used about a cup of frozen mango so I didn’t have to cut a fresh one), and you can add pretty much any toppings you like. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of orange flavored things, so I didn’t love the orange juice in the recipe, but most people probably won’t mind it. I also blended it a bit too much—make sure to leave it a little thick if you plan on eating it out of the bowl. Finally, I used the recommended toppings and, while they do compliment the smoothie well, I probably could have added even more (both in amount or variety).

These three matcha smoothie recipes are all easy and delicious if you’re looking for recipes to start with. But you can also make matcha smoothie with pretty much any ingredients you want, so don’t be afraid to get creative and have fun with it.
