Argo Tea ValenTea Passion

I have a complicated relationship with Valentine’s Day. I hate that there’s a day that forces you to show love with gifts and special activities (even if it’s family, friends, yourself…why do we need a certain day??). On the other hand, I am a sucker for all things hearts, flowers, and generally Valentine’s themed—including Valentine’s themed tea, of course. Every year, Argo Tea releases their ValenTea Passion drink, and every year I have to get it.

Argo Tea describes the ValenTea Passion as “A sweet, fruity blend of hibiscus tea and all-natural passionfruit flavor, delicious either hot or cold.” I would describe the tea as sweet, but also a little tart from the hibiscus. In fact, the hibiscus tea is what I taste the most in this drink. Like Argo Tea’s other hibiscus teas, the flavor is good and doesn’t disappoint.

I would also say there is a general fruity flavor, with the passionfruit flavor only really distinct when you get an iced ValenTea Passion. For this reason, while I would say that is good both hot and cold, I definitely prefer it iced. The problem is that February in New York is freezing and often snowing, which doesn’t make me want to get iced drinks. New Yorkers may be famous for drinking iced coffee year-round, but personally I prefer hot tea in the cold winter months.

Overall, I would recommend trying the ValenTea Passion from Argo Tea both hot and iced. And if you live somewhere warm, you’ll probably enjoy it iced for the whole Valentine’s season. But, if you’re someplace, cold like me, you’ll probably find that you only need to get it once each way.
